Enter the original price and the discount. Add an extra discount if a second offer applies on top of the first.
Formula
Sale price = Price × (1 − Discount / 100) × (1 − Extra / 100)
Worked example
30% off 79.90 gives 55.93. With an extra 10% on top: 55.93 × 0.9 = 50.34, a total saving of 37%.
Frequently asked questions
Do 30% and 10% discounts add up to 40%?
No. The second discount applies to the already reduced price, so the total is 37%.
How do I calculate a discount in my head?
Find 10% and multiply. 30% off 80 is 3 × 8 = 24, so you pay 56.
How do I find the discount rate from two prices?
